Context
Commonplace is a civic engagement platform supporting public consultation, urban planning and regeneration projects. The product ecosystem included public-facing project websites, map-based feedback tools, data-heavy dashboards and project editing workflows.
It enabled local authorities, developers and project teams to collect, understand and act on community input throughout the planning process.
Challenge
The main challenge was to connect a simple, accessible participation experience for residents with a powerful operational layer for project teams.
Feedback needed to be easy to submit, but structured enough to support location-based analysis, reporting and decision-making across complex consultation projects.
My role + impact
I worked across multiple parts of the platform, including public project pages, geospatial feedback flows, project dashboards and editor/admin tools.
My work focused on simplifying complex workflows, improving how spatial feedback was collected and helping teams turn large volumes of community input into clear, actionable insight.
Outcome
The result was a more coherent product experience across the full consultation loop — from public participation and project setup to data collection, analysis and stakeholder insight.
The platform made it easier for teams to manage engagement at scale while giving residents a clearer, more accessible way to take part in local planning decisions.
